This iBook was created using a relatively new technology that allows us to feature videos of our portfolio managers and a slideshow offering an inside look at the 2012 PIMCO Secular Forum. In order to open the iBook, it is necessary to have the latest operating system (iOS 5.0 or later) and iBooks App (version 2.1.1) on your iPad.
- If you have iOS 5.0 or later and iBooks App 2.1.1., Open the iBook here »
- If you need to check/update your iOS and iBooks, go to Updating your iPad »
- If you have questions or for additional support, go to FAQs »
Open PIMCO's 2012 Secular Outlook iBook here »
Step 1: Once you have clicked on the iBook link, it may take several minutes to open – the scroll bar will indicate status. (This is standard for iBooks.)
Step 2: A new window will appear with an iBook icon. Click on the “Open in iBooks” button. Note that it may take a few more minutes for the book to download to your library, and you will not see any indication of the download (such as a wheel or status bar).
Step 3: When the download is complete, you will see the book on your library bookshelf. The book should launch automatically. If not, click on the book icon.
Step 4: The book will open to the Table of Contents – from here, you can navigate via links or use the bottom scrollbar. Steps on how to navigate the iBook are provided at the beginning of the scrollbar.
Updating your iPad
Update your device wirelessly (available in iOS 5 and later)
- Ensure your device is connected to a power source. To avoid potential data costs connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update. iOS will automatically check for available updates.
- If an update is available* you can tap Download to download the update.
- After the download has completed, tap Install to update your iOS.
- If you leave the update to download in the background, once the download has finished you will receive a notification saying an update is available for your device. Tapping Details will take you to Settings > General > Software Update. Tap Install Now to install the iOS update. If you decide to leave the installation for later Settings will display notification badge until the update has been installed.
* Some iOS updates may not available as over-the-air updates. VPN or proxy connections may prevent your device from contacting the iOS update servers.

| Additional Information
Ensure that your device is backed up to iCloud or back up with iTunes before updating.
Note: Some updates may require restoring the device. If this is necessary, iTunes will display an alert. Back up data before updating the device.
- If you update using the Mac or PC with which you normally sync, all iTunes content will be synced automatically
after updating and restoring from backup.
- If you update using a Mac or PC you don't normally sync with, only the content that is stored in the backup will be restored back to the device. Review what is stored in
a backup before updating. To preserve iTunes media (such as music, videos, and photos) apply the update using the computer with which you normally sync.
Otherwise, you will need to sync with the machine you normally use to recover this media.
- See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972 for additional support.
